Critical care is the multidisciplinary healthcare specialty that cares for patients with acute, life-threatening |
illness or injury Critical care (medicine) is maturing into a separate specialty whose practitioners are “intensivists” and who practice is moving from consult based “open” units, to multidisciplinary “closed” units.
There is one 8 bedded intensive care unit,4 beded high dependency unite which are centrally air-conditioned and is round the clock run by intensivist. Mulriparameters monitors for monitoring ECG, oxygen saturation respiration, and invasive and noninvasive blood pressures support all the beds.
The Critical care is having separate doctor, qualified nurses and paramedical staff to give proper medical care to seriously ill and post-traumatic patients. In this ward attendants are not allowed and all the medical and as well as other needs such as feeding and other nursing care for patients etc are performed by nursing staff only. The department has qualified personal with knowledge and skills sufficient to evaluate monitor and treat seriously sick patients, stabilize patients those with lethal and disabling conditions. Emergency conditions are continuously available 24 hours, in a day by an intensivist and emergency nursing staff. The unit is equipped with advance life support amenities like ventilators defibrillators, monitors, infusion pumps, pulse oxmeter, central gas pipeline etc.
Isolation unit
There are 3 bed isolation wards for infectious diseased patients which are well attended by well-qualified doctor’s medical/Para-medical staff.
Operation theatre
Our hospital has 4 centrally air conditioned operation theater equipped with modern monitoring facilities. Most modern Sterilization system is attached to operation theatres. Anesthesia and oxygen gases etc are all centrally supplied to operation theatres. Special precaution measures are taken to maintain aseptic condition of operation theatres by providing ultraviolet radiation and fresh air through micro-filter system in central air conditioning plant, which are not routinely available in most of the hospitals. There is also one labour room attached to the operation theatre complex.
